Sixth Grade Graduation

Richard Arthur Powell graduated from 6th grade this year.  It seems so weird that he will be going to Middle School this next year.  We are so proud of him.  He has overcome a lot of struggles and has been an excellent student that is looked up to this year.  Dylan and I attended, Grandma Powell, and Nana & Papa Proctor.

Kindergarten Graduation

David Ethan Powell graduated from Kindergarten. It was a cute little program. I was 1 week post op so it was an interesting outing for me. Ethan’s teacher, Mrs. Backman, had her first year at Sunset View this year and it is also her last. We are really going to miss her. She has been so good with David (as he wants to be called now). My mom and dad came for 1/2 of it till they had to leave for a doctor’s appointment, and David’s mom came with a couple of little ones. It was fun. Thank you Mrs. Backman for your help with David. He really enjoyed you as his teacher and being in all-day kindergarten with you. We will miss you.

Remembering Dad!

Today would have been Dad Powell’s 71st birthday.  We sure miss having him with us.  I am grateful for the example he was to me while he was alive.  He was a man of honor.  I miss being able to call and have him help administer to us when we are in need of blessings.  I know that he is here with us in Spirit and that he loves us.  We love you Dad!

Our Little Man!

Richard was ordained a Deacon on Sunday, May 2nd. It was sure a neat experience and it is wonderful to have another Priesthood holder in the house. He’s an amazing little man and example. We are so proud of him. We had a little get together after he was ordained to celebrate his becoming a Deacon as well as to celebrate his 12th birthday that was just 5 days before. Richard we love you and are so very proud of you. We know that Grandpa Powell was there with us in Spirit and is very proud of your decision to follow in the footsteps of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Keep up the good work.

Surgery Again!

Well, we ended up in Salt Lake for the third time today in the last 3 weeks to see ENT Specialists. The week before Spring Break Dylan started having some blood come out of his left ear. I took him in to the doctor, and they thought he might have had an ear infection that started to bleed. Well, a week later when it was still bleeding our Nurse Practitioner decided to send him to an ENT in Salt Lake. He told us there was nothing to worry about and to come back in a month. Needless to say, I was FRUSTRATED. Well, our Nurse Practitioner had us come in weekly to see if there was still a blood clot in his ear. Well, Wednesday the blood clot was sitting in the opening of the ear so we took it out and blood started running out of his ear AGAIN. So she called up and got him in with one of my favorite ENT’s the next morning. Yesterday morning we spent 2 hours at the ENT’s having tests. The doctor told us that he needed to have surgery today to put him under so he could see what was going on in his ear. I forgot my camera so the pictures off my cell phone aren’t to good. So this morning my dad, PAPA, and I took Dylan up for yet another surgery. The doctor came out and said that his tube was rolling around in his left ear rubbing it raw. He took the tube out and put a paper patch on it. He said it was down to the eardrum, so I’m grateful that we went with the gut instinct and were presistent in getting some answers. It was a good experience at the Surgical Center that we had the surgery at. They let me take Dylan into the OR and hold him while they put him to sleep. I was grateful to be able to be there to comfort him.
